7 Days of Fall Essentials - Day 7!!!

Light Leather Jacket!!

Nothing is more essential than a leather jacket with a thin lining.  It can be casual or even dressed up when pared with the right clothing.  The classic brown colour is the way to go, but black is also a staple.  There are many different style to get so you just have to try them on and see which suits you best.  I personally prefer the motorcycle style jackets as they are always in style.  Whatever the style you choose make sure that it is short, up to your waist, anything longer and it becomes a leather coat.

7 Days of Fall Essentials - Day 6!!

Denim!

The essential staple in any mans wardrobe, can be mixed and matched with just about anything!  In reality you don't really need that many pairs just 2 or 3 that work really well with you body type.  Some of the essential colours to have are a light blue, dark blue & black.  Remember get a pair that accentuates your looks - don't get jeans that are too baggy or too skinny, these are fades and get out of style really quick.  Once you have the right denim cut (ex. boot cut, straight cut, etc) that works for you, just build on it (layering), the style will always remain classic.  Check out this website for more info on denim (Esquire)

7 Days of Fall Essentials - Day 5!!

The Scarf!!

What you want is a lightweight scarf which works well for the Fall & Spring months.  So don't get  out that thick wool/cashmere scarf yet, get something in the light cottons.  The scarf can add a polished/ finished look to your overall style.  It can be worn with a blazer, overcoat, over your sweater, etc, endless combinations for which you can experiment with.  For those of you who are not familiar on how to tie a scarf I have put a diagram below.

7 Days of Fall essentials - Day 4!

Long Sleeve Sweater (Lightweight)!

A nice lightweight sweater that is made of Merino wool or cashmere is always a great addition to your wardrobe.  It's great to be worn over your shirt with a blazer or just on it's own.  The v-neck style is best with a shirt & tie but the crew neck is great with a shirt.  Have fun with them don't just stick with the grays or black colours.

7 Days of Fall Essentials - Day 3!!

Driving Gloves!!

A great pair of lambskin driving gloves always adds an extra fine touch to your overall look.  It's not cold enough for the winter gloves but, driving gloves which are not insulated are perfect for the cool weather, best to use in the early fall and late spring weather.  As the name imply's they really are great for driving, they provide better grip.  The main colours should either be tan/brown or black.

Tweed Blazer!!

A great staple item to have in your wardrobe.  The advantage to having a tweed, or a heavy wool blazer is that in cool weather you can get away without putting on a jacket, just dress it with a scarf and gloves.  In rainy conditions just put your trench over it.  The main colours to look at getting is grey, brown or a navy blue.

7 Days of Fall Essentials - Day1!!

The Trench Coat!!!
Now that Hurricane Sandy is gone the rain is still around, nothing more essential than a practical trench coat. The Trench coat was invented by Thomas Burberry, it was devised during the First World War, he created a breathable water-resistant fabric called gabardine.  The classic trench typically is double-breasted, belted coat, a buttoned flap over the right shoulder in the front and epaulets, though they are many different modern styles.  One should go out and try a variety of different styles to see which style/cut suits you best.  As for colour stay with the tried and true classics of khaki, black or navy blue.  If you like bright colours get a raincoat instead.  The advantage of the trench coat is that it acts like a light overcoat, which allows you to layerup!
